Who to Refer Youth to for Gender Affirming Surgeries
Dec 19, 2022This blog was supposed to be a list of where you can refer your young patients in need of gender affirming surgeries, but that kind of feels like I would be possibly giving someone a list that they might use to cause a lot of harm. Which really fucking sucks!
So in place providing a list of surgeons, I will recommend a few communities of providers. These are great places to start an ask. Most of these require some kind of invitation or vetting, so there is more safety for our surgeons and our clinicians.
- GAHC listserve
- Network with me and if it seems appropriate I can ask to have you added
- Trans-navigators listserve
- started through TransMaryland, request more info through them
- Your local LGBTQ+/Trans nonprofit listserve-
- contact your local org
- Facebook Group- Transgender medicine- clinician’s group
- Request to join
I also want to throw TransLine on here. They have a free e-consult service which is probably better used for medical/clinical questions, but they are such a great resource that I can’t leave them off the list.
